A Summer of Fun, Friendship, and Discovery!

At Frankford Friends School, summer is all about creativity, exploration, and endless fun! Our program, designed for children entering Pre-K through 3rd grade, blends the best elements of a classic day camp with the nurturing environment and exceptional teaching that define Frankford Friends.

Each day is filled with exciting morning exploration sessions, followed by time in the gym, engaging community games, hands-on art projects, and plenty of free play and socialization. And, of course, Fridays mean free pizza and popsicles!

We welcome all curious children entering PreKindergarten through third grade who love to learn, be creative, and have fun.

Hours

The summer program runs from 8:00am to 3:00pm with an optional Extended Day add-on until 4:00pm.

Transportation
Ottermobile service is available from many parts of the city ($300 per session). Contact Kevin to find out if the Ottermobile is in your neighborhood

Personalized Fun
All students have opportunities to choose between activities they enjoy, such as art, playing in the gym, and water fun.

All faculty are experienced teacher leaders from Frankford Friends School and other area schools.

FFS takes safety seriously and has a comprehensive safety plan in place to ensure the well-being of its students, staff, and visitors, including emergency preparedness, security measures, health and medical protocols, and clear guidelines on behavior, bullying prevention, and conflict resolution.

Fort Builders: Design, Build, and Explore!

Step into a world of imagination and engineering in this hands-on fort-building adventure! Using materials like cardboard, fabric, ropes, PVC pipes, and natural elements, kids will design and construct epic forts, castles, hideouts, and secret spaces. Each day brings new challenges, from building sturdy structures and creating tunnels to designing themed forts with lights, decorations, and interactive elements. Along the way, you’ll explore architecture, creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork while bringing your dream forts to life. Get ready to build, explore, and play in the ultimate fort-building experience!

Design Thinking: Hamster Haven

Engage in city planning for hamsters! You will first observe hamsters and learn about their needs. Then, through projects and discussion, you will work to discover what makes a community and how the careful planning of a city can affect its residents. Finally, you will collaborate with your teammates to build a city exclusively for live hamsters.

All Cracked Up: The Mysteries of Volcanoes, Crystals, and Rocks

Ever wonder why volcanoes erupt or how rocks and minerals form? Dig deeper into these questions as you learn about what is happening far below the earth’s surface. Students will build working models of volcanoes and the layers of the earth as they learn about what’s happening below their feet.

The Art of Noise

J​oin us to learn ​how to use everyday sounds, music, and noise as artistic tools to tell stories, express emotions, and create soundscapes. Through play, creativity, and hands-on activities, children will explore how different noises—whether from instruments, objects, or their own voices—can be used to enhance communication and storytelling. You'll also create and use puppets, costumes, and props to bring your stories and sound creations to life, combining visual and auditory creativity in exciting ways!

Tinker Time: Dream, Design, Build!

Unleash creativity in this hands-on design and build experience where kids become inventors, engineers, and makers! Each day brings exciting challenges using a mix of materials—from LEGO to cardboard and recycled items or wood, wheels, and simple machines. Whether constructing bridges, vehicles, flying machines, or Rube Goldberg contraptions, participants will explore engineering, problem-solving, and teamwork while bringing your wildest ideas to life. Get ready to think, tinker, and build!

This is a two-week session but a student may attend either week alone.

Smart Cookie!

Work with a team to develop your own cookie company! First, you’ll learn about ingredients, experiment with flavors, and test your recipes to create the ultimate cookie. Then, you and your team will design eye-catching packaging, film your own commercials, and strategize the best ways to attract customers. Along the way, you'll explore branding, marketing, and even basic business concepts to bring your cookie company to life. Get ready to mix, bake, create, and sell—because in this program, you’re not just making cookies, you’re building a business!

This is a two-week session but a student may attend either week alone.
