The Nature Learning Lab
This exciting project is currently under construction on a .45-acre lot across from the main campus. The Nature Learning Lab will provide opportunities for children to freely explore, investigate, and observe their world through engagement with rocks and soils, natural materials, native plants and local animals, water, and engineering apparatus. Student-initiated outdoor explorations, connecting to the classroom curriculum in multiple ways, will promote children’s cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development and foster their commitment to the stewardship of living things.
The Nature Learning Lab will also help beautify the neighborhood and reduce stormwater runoff in the community, protecting our streams and rivers. Construction of the Nature Learning Lab began in May, 2016.
The school was able to engage Meliora Design and ThinkGreen LLC for stormwater management and construction design through a PADEP “Growing Greener” grant.
