Parent Participation

Parent ParticipationOur community values families and parent participation. There are many ways to support the school and many ways to participate that improve school life for everyone. These include the following:

  • Library helpers
  • Landscaping/gardening
  • Building Improvement
  • Chaperoning field trips
  • Hosting after-school enrichment clubs
  • Sharing expertise

Classroom teachers will advertise when they need help in the classroom.  Please feel free to sign up as often and as regularly as you wish to!

If you have a particular area of interest or expertise that you are willing to share with us, please contact Kathryn Park Cook, Head of School, at

Participating in the Home and School Association

The Home & School Association (H&S) sponsors many free or low-cost events to build community and to strengthen connections among FFS families. Profits from these events benefit current programs, field trips, special equipment, accompanists for concerts, and financial aid.

H&S organizes lunch days, Spring Fair, movie nights, skating parties, rummage sale, book fair, potluck dinners, and many other special events.

Give to the Annual Fund

Our tuition is the lowest of any Friends School in the Delaware Valley.  However, each student’s  tuition does not fully cover the cost of each student to attend school at Frankford Friends School.  We count on parents and generous school supporters to cover the difference between tuition and student cost so that we can continue to keep our tuition low.  No donation is too small to make a difference to our students and every donation is gratefully accepted.

FFS parents support the Annual Fund every year.  Because of the Annual Fund, all of our students can participate in special programs, field trips, and projects, the school can update materials and supplies when necessary to improve hands-on activities in technology and science, and we can supplement teacher salaries to help lessen teacher attrition. Every FFS family should plan to support the Annual Fund at a level they are comfortable with. Click here for the 2015-2016 Parent Donation and Pledge form.

In addition, the Spring Fling (annual fundraising event held in the spring) also benefits the Annual Fund. We hope that every family and supporter of Frankford Friends School will join us at our spring event.

In order to make giving convenient, we have instituted the Sustainers Circle, through which supporters can make monthly gifts of any size. The Sustainers Circle makes a huge difference in the school’s financial stability through each family’s continuous gifts of modest sizes. Those families and supporters that would like to join the Sustainers Circle may contact Amy Silver O’Leary, Director of Development and Communications, at 215-533-5368 x120 or, or find out more on our Support FFS pages here.

Monetary gifts can also be included with your tuition check.

Advocating for FFS

FFS parents can help in an important role as advocates of the school – introducing prospective families to the school, connecting us with businesses and foundations, and inviting family members such as grandparents or aunts and uncles to attend school events and to get to know us. Parents can also host gatherings such as class coffees or neighborhood “Introduction to FFS” events.

Families that are interested in hosting an event or who have business/foundation connections should contact Amy Silver O’Leary, Director of Development and Communications, at 215-533-5368 x120 or

Staying Connected

When your child graduates from FFS, you are still a valued part of our community.  In fact, many of the members of our School Committee, the volunteer board governing the school, are parents of FFS alumni. A large share of our donations come from FFS alumni and their parents, who appreciate what FFS has meant to their families and want to make sure the school continues to thrive. Alumni and their parents also serve on the Finance and Development Committees, and many attend the annual fundraising event and Spring Fair to reconnect with the school. Families that are interested in learning more about how they can stay connected may contact Amy Silver O’Leary, Director of Development and Communications, at 215-533-5368 x120 or
