Middle School (Grades 6-8)
At Frankford Friends School we guide Middle School students through their journey to develop their own identities and discover their passions by giving them guidance, academic challenge, and social opportunities. By challenging our students academically and creatively, we support them in taking risks and nurture their desire to make meaning of their world. Our curriculum includes a strong basis in academics, but also includes a variety of musical and visual arts electives, STEM classes, and foreign language studies. Together, we ensure a solid knowledge base in all curricular areas.
Throughout their time in middle school, our students study:
Life, earth, and physical sciences
Mathematics through algebra 1
Robotics (seventh and eighth grade)
Spanish language and culture
Humanities – global studies and American studies
Ancient history – Greece and Rome (grade 6)
Literature and effective forms of writing
Quakerism – history, living ones life by the Quaker testimonies, servant leadership
Music performance, art, and theater
Service to the community
All Middle Schoolers spend three days and two nights at a team-building retreat, where they join with each other in forming stronger friendships, community interaction, and reflective capabilities.
